Overview

The Director, Business Intelligence and Data Quality builds and manages technology capabilities for Business Intelligence (“BI”), dashboards, and performance metrics for both research and non-research business units. As the leader of the Business Intelligence and Data Quality team, this position will be expected to expand the organization’s capabilities in the business intelligence space, while also monitoring and improving data quality processes. A primary responsibility of this department is to use business data to inform the research team on how to work more efficiently, directing efforts on contacts, companies, and projects. This role will also provide Business Intelligence capabilities to professionals across the organization by providing value through data to departments like Sales Operations, Customer Success, and Finance.

 

This position will be the point of contact for the research department on projects related to BI and reporting. The person in this position will provide guidance to and mentoring for the BI/Data Quality team as the team matures into a fully-fledged business intelligence unit. This role will require concentration on the creation and maintenance of databases, data warehouses, reports, and the associated BI infrastructure designed to empower our internal teams with data.

Responsibilities

Here is what a typical day will look like as the Director of Business Intelligence:

  • Collaborate with business teams, senior executives, Directors, and other users to define and manage scope and project prioritizations.
  • Manage large, complex data projects from start to finish. Supervise analysts assigned to these initiatives and identify ahead of time any issues with timelines or completion of projects and work through with internal customers.
  • Develop scoring models that rank leads, contact records, company records to help optimize existing data processes
  • Provide strategy, direction and support for Business Intelligence/Data Quality team during requirements gathering, peer reviews, development, user acceptance, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Research Strategy team on infrastructure needs relating to data quality
  • Proactively identify areas in which analytics efforts can produce a strong value add, and work them into the roadmap.
  • Monitor BI and data management technology trends and introduce innovative solutions to meet business needs.

Qualifications

You're likely a great fit for this opportunity if you have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Business Analysis or Business Intelligence in a diverse technical environment required
  • At least 3 years of management experience or experience as technical lead on IT projects required.
  • Experience developing smart, eager, and technically proficient analysts into bona-fide business intelligence professionals
  • Experience managing and executing on reporting requirements, requests and deliverables to support large-scale data driven organization
  • Expertise working with and combining data extracted from a variety of sources, including MySQL, Excel spreadsheets, text files, SalesForce, and other 3rd party APIs.
  • Previous experience with Tableau or similar data visualization software.
  • Familiarity with AWS Redshift, RDS, and Aurora preferred.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify quality solutions.
  • Strong organization, planning and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive and high energy environment
