Overview

Six years ago DiscoverOrg was an 87-person company doing about $30M in annual revenue. Fast forward and we are approaching 500 people doing about $120M in revenue with untapped growth potential. For us to continue on our goal of becoming the best Sales and Marketing Intelligence platform in the world, we need a talented Database Developer to join our team. We’re looking for an individual who wants to challenge the way we are currently doing things. An individual who wants to work with a highly collaborative team, and bring new ideas to the table as we prepare to scale in the coming years.

Responsibilities

Here is what a typical day will look like as a Database Developer:

 

  • Works as part of the Research Operations team to create scheduled and ad hoc reports from various sources, primarily MySQL, MSSQL, Redshift, and flat files.
  • Works with the Research teams to clean and load data into our production databases.
  • Responds to trouble tickets to troubleshoot and resolve data quality and reporting issues.
  • Offers strategic input to improve or automate the treatment of information by the Research department.
  • Meets with business users to discuss data reporting needs and to gather technical and non-technical requirements.
  • Supports business end users and teammates on SQL-related questions and issues.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for business end users and other data analysts.
  • Expand and support ETL processes and data migration for reporting and analysis by the BI team.
  • Work with the BI team to develop ad hoc and scheduled reports for stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Act as liaison between the BI and product development/DevOps team in the development and maintenance of the data warehouse.

Qualifications

You're likely a great fit for this role if you have the following: 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of experience writing complex database queries and reports, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience writing SQL for data analysis, including collecting, assembling, cleansing and formatting data.
  • Experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, and events.
  • High-level knowledge of data & data warehousing principles and how they impact business intelligence at fast growing organizations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with, and provide excellent customer service to, stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching business end users and junior analysts on SQL related questions
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and collaborate with others to identify and implement solutions.
  • Available for on-call and/or after-hours support as needed

Technologies/skills:

  • SQL, specifically MySQL and T-SQL.
  • AWS familiarity, especially Redshift, RDS, and S3.
  • Tableau or similar data visualization software.
  • Excel and Google Sheets.
  • One or more programming languages, such as Python, R, Java, Perl.
  • Familiarity with Spark/Spark SQL, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, and/or Impala a plus.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub or other version control systems.
