  • Overview

    We deal in very large volumes of data and are actively building systems that create and increase value from this data.  We are exploring machine learning, scalable and resilient architectures to store, access and interact with our data.  We work with partners regularly who access or enhance our own data in a variety of ways, and we are exploring major enhancements to our customer-facing user interfaces and the technologies to build them. 
    Our tech stack is varied at DiscoverOrg and includes Java, Spring, Angular, Redis, .Net and Elastic Search.  We are exploring AWS/Cloud technologies including Aurora for both development and production.  You should also be comfortable with REST concepts, familiar with SQL queries and take pride in writing supportable, scalable, performant code.  Experience with microservice architecture is a plus!


    Here's what a typical day will look like as a Principal Engineer:

    • Authors, reviews and approves requirements and designs across the organization
    • Able to architect large scale features across multiple domains
    • Creates extensible and shareable code
    • Can quickly come up to speed on projects and technologies
    • Recognized expert and acts as the go-to person for the team
    • Take part in an agile development process with iterative releases
    • Drive enhancements, optimize performance, and troubleshoot defects for core business applications
    • Contribute to UX design and development
    • Assist with and facilitate testing and QA


    We're looking for: 

    • 4+ years of experience in enterprise level Java programming
    • 2+ years working with Spring
    • 1+ years with HTML5/CSS3/Javascript
    • Emphasis on web-based applications (SaaS, microservices)
    • Continuous Integration (CI) & Continuous Delivery (CD)
    • Proven ability to deliver web-applications
    • Ability to communicate well with Product Managers and stakeholders
    • Desire to mentor and facilitate the skills development of more junior team members
    • Debugging & performance profiling the full application stack
    • RDBMS’s (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
    • Search Engine technologies (e.g. Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene)
    • ORMs, preferably MyBatis
    • Automated Testing (GUI and backend), User Acceptance Testing
    • Test Driven Development, mocking frameworks
    • Version control systems, preferably Git
    • Java build tools, preferably Gradle
    • RESTful Web Services (Spring MVC, JAX-RS)
    • AngularJS (v1.x)
    • Responsive and adaptable web design principles
    • Javascript build tools (Grunt, Gulp, etc.)
