    The Data Engineering Manager is a key position that will work closely with the leaders of the Research, Engineering, and other department executives to identify gaps in skills and processes as they pertain to the scale and automation of our data. This position will be expected to expand DiscoverOrg’s capabilities in the data collection space by leading the team of data engineers responsible for automating the aggregation of data from multiple sources. We’ll be looking for you to help us identify trends and make recommendations on what we can do to improve and execute better going forward. You’ll play a major role in refining our processes around data quality.

    This is a new position, so we encourage you to make it what you want it to be. This is a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment that requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, superb analytical skills, and the ability to team with others within the company.


    Here is what a typical day will look like as a Data Engineering Manager:

    • Work with senior leadership to plan and prioritize Data Automation team projects
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement impactful solutions to department and business problems
    • Lead Data Automation team’s daily standups and design reviews
    • Mentor other data engineers in adopting best practices
    • Look for ways to automate processes currently performed manually to improve department efficiency
    • Stay up-to-date on new and emerging technologies and methodologies, and how each might be used to solve current and future organizational needs
    • Analyze third party data to understand its overlap with DiscoverOrg data and how best to integrate it
    • Gather and document requirements from technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
    • Work with large data sets: experience developing programs to parse, process, analyze, and comprehend the data


    You're likely a great fit for this role if this sounds like you:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred), 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, 2+ years experience managing data engineers.
    • Experience mentoring/coaching junior and mid-level Data Engineers
    • Ability to communicate effectively with, and provide excellent customer service to, stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to quickly switch to new projects as company and department priorities evolve
    • Thorough understanding of Python and SQL data structures and best practices
    • Experience with numerous database systems, including MySQL and Snowflake.
    • Experience with the common Python data libraries (Pandas, numpy, pyspark, etc.)
    • Experience with Spark, EMR and/or Databricks.
    • Experience developing solution within AWS Services framework (EC2, RDS, Lambda.)
    • Experience with source control tools such as GitHub and related dev process
    • Experience with workflow scheduling tools such as Apache Airflow
